Welcome

Time Keeping

The school gates open at 08:50am and are locked at 09:05am.

Any pupil, arriving after 9:05am, will need to enter through the main entrance at the front of the school building and inform Mrs Barnes of their attendance.

Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives in school on time every day.

Attendance Matters

At Caradog Primary School, attendance has a very high profile and this is regularly communicated.

If your child is absent from school for any reason, please ring the school and speak to Mrs Barnes directly, or leave a message on the school answerphone.

Class Dojo

We use the Class Dojo app to communicate general information about our school, to share photographs of whole-school and class activities, and to keep you updated with regard to any upcoming events.

Please use Dojo messenger for contacting Mr. Davies or Mrs. Hook with any queries you may have.

P.E.

Throughout the Summer Term 2023, our PE day will be a Tuesday.

Pupils will require suitable clothing and footwear to take part in their P.E. sessions and are invited to come to school already dressed in their kit for the day.

Reading

Please try to listen to your child read at home as often as possible. Remember, 5 minutes each evening is better than 15 minutes once a week! Try to talk to your child about the book they are reading, and ask questions about the characters, the setting (where the story takes place) and the plot (what happens in the story), as well as asking them to make predictions about what they think might happen. Pupils' understanding of the text is as important as their ability to read it, and we will continually focus on these skills throughout the Year.

You can support your child by encouraging them to read lots of other lovely books you may have at home, or by taking a trip to Aberdare library.

School Uniform

We encourage our pupils to wear school uniform every day.

Our Year 6 uniform consists of a yellow polo shirt, grey trousers/skirt/pinafore, red cardigan/jumper/hoody (these do not require the school logo) and black shoes.

Personal Belongings

Please ensure that all items of clothing, as well as bags, packed-lunch bags and water bottles, are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Pupils should avoid bringing any unnecessary items into school.
