Useful Information:

Swimming/PE:

During the Spring Term 2022, our PE day will be a Monday. The children will require suitable clothing and footwear to take part in this session. They may come to school already dressed in their kit for the day.

Reading Books & Guided Reading:

The children should ensure their reading bags are brought to school on a Monday morning to give us plenty of opportunities to listen to them read throughout the week. Books will be changed once the children have completed and understood each book. Reading books will be returned home every Friday afternoon.

You can support your child by encouraging them to read lots of other lovely books you may have at home, or by taking a trip to Aberdare library.

As part of our Guided Reading work in class, the children may bring home their Guided Reading books and some activities to complete linked to what they have read. They will typically have 1 week to complete the work set, so there are plenty of opportunities to seek advice and support from school.

Spelling:

New spelling lists will be provided on a Monday ready for a test the following Monday morning. The children have been taught many different strategies to help them practice their spellings at home. They will also be given time in class to practice spelling strategies with an adult.
