Dear Parents/ Carers and Caradog Family,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome myself as the new Headteacher of Caradog Primary School. I feel both honoured and privileged to have been chosen to lead this vibrant and inclusive school on its journey towards excellence. My vision is to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential both in and beyond school, removing barriers to success. I have over 20 years Primary School experience as well as working for the Local Authority as a Lead practitioner for Foundation Learning practise and pedagogy.
The dedicated team of staff at Caradog have designed a curriculum with the four purposes at its heart and organised their classrooms in such a way that children are well motivated and enjoy being at school. This is the best possible environment for learning to take place. The needs of our children are always paramount in the decision making within our school. I strongly believe in providing our children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning, help them to grow and develop positively.
We are a school that is proud of its Welsh heritage and language and strive to promote both daily. I know how vital working in partnership with parents and carers is in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I think it is crucial to involve our children and their families as partners in their education and I hope to build strong, reciprocal relationships with both home and community whereby we can all benefit from supporting one another effectively. I am keen to continue to build a whole school community which thrives on mutual respect and values positive relationships.
As a key educator in your children’s lives, I feel that it is important that you have a voice, that as a school we are approachable and allocate time to listen to you. In the coming weeks I shall be sending out a questionnaire shortly to gather your thoughts, feelings and opinions about the school and use this honest feedback to continue to drive positive change. I shall be in the school yard at the beginning and end of the school day as often as I can be. Please come and introduce yourselves, I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming weeks.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs Rhian Derrick Headteacher
