Caradog Primary School

Young Minds, Big Dreams!

Welcome

Children Looked After (CLA)

Our school offers a warm welcome to all children who are looked after. We realise that it can be a difficult time moving schools and perhaps having a new person to live with. We will work closely with carers and pupils so you feel comfortable in our school.

All children looked after are able to choose a key adult to support them throughout their school life in Caradog. This is an adult with whom they can develop an attachment-like-relationship to help them navigate challenges through their day-to-day life at school.

Mrs. Kelly Strong is our Designated Person for CLA.

The School Governor with responsibility for Children Looked After is:

Mr. Mark Strong

Along with the Headteacher, we also have a team of people who look after wellbeing in our school.  Miss Ffion Jones, our Deputy Head and Miss Rhian Evans our  ALNCo, and a dedicated team of support staff.

Our school also has three trained ELSA's (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants). Please contact your child's class teacher if you feel they would benefit from ELSA support. These are:

Mrs S. Bengough

Miss N. Davies

Miss M. Hamm

We work closely with other services, including Social Services and the RCT Learning Support Team. If additional services are needed we liaise with the CLA Team in the Local Authority.  Assistance may include support from psychologists and other agencies.
